Frequently Asked Questions
Where will we meet?
Currently, all of my sessions are provided to anyone in Massachusetts via telehealth using a secure video conferencing platform. My aim is to reduce travel and location barriers and provide access to services for people across the state.
What can I expect during the free consult call?
This serves as an opportunity for us to briefly connect, discuss your needs, ask questions, and determine if I am the right fit for your therapy journey. If we both feel there is a good fit, we will discuss next steps including scheduling our initial session, completing paperwork, and administrative details. Please remember that this is a no-obligation conversation. There is no requirement to commit to therapy after the call if you don’t feel comfortable.
Are there any patients who are not appropriate for your services?
People under 18 years old may be better suited to work with a different mental health provider. Additionally, individuals who experience severe depression, severe suicidal ideation, psychotic disorder, or an eating disorder, are likely to benefit from more intensive psychiatric services than I can provide.
Can you prescribe medicine for my mood?
As a psychologist, I hold a doctoral degree in psychology. My education and training focused on psychological theory, research methods, and therapeutic techniques. However, I do not have medical training and therefore cannot prescribe medication. Psychiatric providers are the only mental health professionals who are licensed to prescribe medication to treat mental health disorders. They can prescribe a wide range of psychiatric medications and monitor their effects.
Do you take insurance?
My services are private pay only. I do not accept insurance and fees are due by credit card at the start of each appointment. This allows freedom in treatment. This also provides you with the choice to keep your records private or file with insurance.
If you would like to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier, I am happy to provide you a “Superbill,” which is a detailed receipt designed for an insurance company to review. I highly recommend you contact your insurance plan for details about your coverage to see if reimbursement for out-of-network services is a benefit you have. It's important to note that the process of seeking reimbursement for out-of-network services can vary based on your insurance company's policies and your specific plan.
You can specifically ask your insurance company about the reimbursement rate for the following CPT codes: 90791 (60 minute initial evaluation) and 90834 (45 minute therapy sessions) as those are the codes used most frequently in my office.
